‘Rajasthan through the Lens’ is a collaboration between photographer Ian Wright ARPS, based in Exeter UK  and Intrepid Travel of Australia, the internationally recognised adventure travel company who carry 90,000 travellers a year to the most exciting destinations in the world.

Day 1       30^th October  Delhi

Flights into Delhi from Kathmandu or from home country. Arrival Pick up

Evening Group Meeting at 6:00 pm

Day 2       31th October Delhi

After breakfast, Sight seeing and photography of Qutub Minar, Humayun Tomb, Old Delhi, Jama Masjid. Transport by Metro and Private Vehicle.

A very full day  visiting three major historic sites and the old city. India's capital is an exciting, busy and at times, chaotic city. However, it is also one of the most interesting cities you'll ever come across. With historical sites from different eras, museums and galleries, shops and endless bazaars.

Old Delhi is fascinating and frenetic - the narrow alleyways and crowded shopping areas are full of potential street photographs. We also visit one of its most impressive buildings and Delhi's oldest mosque, the Jama Masjid. We join the crowds to walk in the bazaars of the old city, immersing in the noise and smells of the crowded narrow streets and alleys, where different areas specialise in different things, including festival paraphernalia, silk, copper, brass and spices.

Day 3      1^st November  Agra

Early start with jeep transport to Agra, stop en route at Mathura which is 40 miles north of Agra. Afternoon visit to the Red Fort and Taj Mahal. - the Taj Mahal. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial to his wife Mumtaz, this 'teardrop on the face of eternity', as it was described by Rabindranath Tagore, lives up to all expectations. We also visit Agra's Red Fort, built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century. Afterwards, there is also an opportunity to see how handmade carpets are produced.

Day 4       2^nd November Agra- Fatehpursikri- Madhogarh

Early morning (sunrise) view of Taj from across river.  Travel to the middle of rural Rajasthan to Madhogarh via Fatepur Sikri by private jeep. Afternoon photographic walk around the village. We stay in a former fort, now converted into a beautiful heritage hotel – our base for three nights.

Days 5-6 3^rd- 4^th November  Madhogarh

These two days we explore the villagers, landscape and tribes of rural Rajasthan – splitting into two or three groups to avoid the issues of too many photographers working in close proximity. Programme organized by the local royal family.

Day 7       5^th November  Jaipur

After breakfast jeep transfer to Jaipur via Amber fort and stopping as opportunities arise.  Enjoy a photo stop at Hawa Mahal, check in at the hotel, evening movie. Crowning the crest of a hill, the fort palace at Amber was the former seat of the head of the Rajasthan state, and we spend time here photographing at own pace. Jaipur, a friendly and busy town, with palaces and bazaars full of jewellery, textiles and folk-based arts, is a firm favourite with travellers. While here, we'll walk to India's most-photographed building after the Taj Mahal, the Hawa Mahal or 'Palace of the Winds'.
